Gloucester Rugby Foundation is working in partnership with the Armed Forces Covenant Fund to deliver a brand-new funded programme.

Gloucester Rugby Foundation is the official charitable arm of Gloucester Rugby. Established in 2016, the Foundation has grown to become one of the leading charitable organisations in Gloucestershire, using sport as a vehicle to achieve positive social change.

The new funding from The Armed Forces Covenant offers a new approach towards supporting female veterans in Gloucestershire to come together and participate in bespoke activities that improve physical and mental health. Interventions will include learning and personal development opportunities, access to physical activity, and group-based mental resilience support with an objective of improving life chances.

Foundation Chief Executive, Rob Webber, says: “We are extremely grateful to the Armed Forces Covenant Fund, for supporting our Empowered Together programme. The programme has been developed to provide prevention and early intervention social and wellbeing support to female veterans living in Gloucestershire, who will have had differing life experiences since leaving the forces.”

Webber continued; “Whilst the focus of ‘Empowered Together’ activities is on supporting female veterans to achieve better life outcomes, the project will work collaboratively with oter partners to deliver targeted joint interventions with current servicing female personnel and the veterans with an aim of developing a peer support network that champions friendship and provides ‘upstream’ support for reintegration.”
